On June 8, 1953 when the DPRK was in the height of the war, President Kim Il Sung issued the DPRK Military Commission order No. 386 which had no relations with military affairs.

The order said that, for the building of a brick factory in Kangnam, the Ministry of Chemical and Building-materials Industry should conduct a thorough investigation of the region for the raw materials, present a building plan and technical design to the State Planning Commission and collect bricks needed in building a brick kiln from destroyed buildings in Pyongyang. The order also urged to take every measure necessary for building of the factory such as the supply of electricity, wood, foodstuff, medicine, manpower, etc.

The factory began to be built on June 15, 1953 according to the Military Commission order issued by Kim Il Sung who was assured of the victory even when the country was in the midst of the war.

The factory contributed big to the country’s rehabilitation and reconstruction after the war.
