The Korean War (June 25, 1950~July 27, 1953) was the fierce war that had never been seen in the history of the world wars. The US imperialists, the ringleader of aggression and war engaged a great number of armed forces of the three services equipped with modern weapons and military technology and lots of mercenaries from satellite countries in the Korean War and applied all kinds of the most cruel and brutal war methods in order to nip the young DPRK in the bud. The Korean army and people, however, won a great victory in the severe confrontation with the US imperialists worried by the world and thus displayed the mettle of the heroic DPRK all over the world.

The great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was the biggest miracle which startled the world.

This was the brilliant victory by the genius resourcefulness and strategy and tactics of President Kim Il Sung and at the same time by his great love.

    Rest Centre at the Frontline

A day went by with fierce battles against the enemy that attacked dozens of times a day in the whole of Height 1 211.

When he was reported by a commander who had returned from the front that some combatants caught night-blindness, President Kim Il Sung said that there was nothing to spare for soldiers although the country was at the difficult condition of war and told to build a rest centre at the front.

No history of wars recorded facts that a rest centre was built for soldiers at the front during the severe days of war.

The rest centre at the front was a home of happiness which was permeated with a noble love of President Kim Il Sung who regarded every combatant as the precious treasure and revolutionary comrade-in-arms unchangeable with anything and took the paternal care of them.

The paternal love which President Kim Il Sung gave during the days of severe battles at the front was a motive power which inspired the soldiers of the People’s Army to display the matchless bravery and mass heroism and a decisive guarantee for the victory in the war.

    Story of Noble Love

This happened one day in July, 1950.

When the field car of President Kim Il Sung reached the Rimjin River, the bridge was blown up by the bombing of the enemy.

Looking at the Rimjin River for a while, he told his suite to cross the railway bridge in the vicinity.

They anxiously told the President that he could never cross it in the danger of unexpected attack of the enemy plane at a pitch-dark night.

He said that the comrades in the front were waiting for him, at this moment the soldiers were fighting a bloody battle and he couldn’t hesitate anything and told them to cross the bridge.

Thus President Kim Il Sung crossed the railway bridge at a pitch-dark night to visit the soldiers in the front.

This was indeed a story of the noble love unprecedented in the history of the world wars.

    Motive Power of Heroic Feats

One day in September, 1951 President Kim Il Sung visited Height 1211 through a hail of bullets.

He gave the commanders the precious instructions to make Height 1211 an impregnable fortress and told them that they should take care of all life ranging from food, clothing and rest of the soldiers to their combat action.

Later he also telephoned the commander of this unit and said that every combatant was the precious treasure. And the President requested him to serve the soldiers hot boiled rice and soup and keep their beds warm so that they didn’t catch a cold because it got cold.

The meticulous paternal love of President Kim Il Sung was a motive power of the heroic feats which enabled the soldiers of Height 1211 to defeat miraculously the indiscriminate bombing and repeated vicious attacks of the US imperialists and defend the height of the country at the cost of their lives.

    Putting Soldiers Before Others

One day in April, 1951 President Kim Il Sung came to know that the soldiers got some buckwheat flour. Aware that it was for his birthday noodle, he said sternly that they should never do that and told them to keep it well.

One day in June he himself called at the cookhouse and told, with a bright smile, the soldiers on the cook’s duty to make noodle that evening. Thinking that they would belatedly serve the President the noodle which they had not made for his birthday, they enthusiastically installed the noodle-press and boiled water.

That day after the talk to the heroes of the Republic and model combatants the President led them to the table and told the cooks to bring all noodle.

When the cooks brought noodle, he said that the noodle should be served the heroes of the Republic and model combatants and put the dishes of noodle before them.

He told them to help themselves and said that they couldn’t have eaten such noodle, fighting against the Yankees in the front. Like this he gave them the paternal love.

The overcautious care of the President who put the soldiers before him aroused them to wiping out the enemy as a nutrient.

    Rescue Operations

Early in November, 1951 President Kim Il Sung who was always busy, looking after big and small matters connected with the destiny of the front came to know that the family of a soldier of the People’s Army were at the enemy-controlled area.

The soldier was a hero who conducted the movement of aircraft-hunting teams to shoot down 5 airplanes of the enemy for a month alone.

The President said that it was necessary to rescue his family from the enemy-controlled area although a difficult war was waged, and elaborated the operations for rescue. And he said that it was necessary to bring everything without leaving even one old farming tool and one broom used by them when bringing his family.

According to the plan of operations elaborated by the President were conducted the operations for rescue in which the forces of one regiment were engaged for the family of the soldier, which had never been seen in the history of wars.

Like this the stories of a great love in the flames of the war convey like a legend what was the source of invincibility that the Korean People’s Army could display matchless bravery and win a brilliant victory in the war.
