Sonu Song Chol is a worker at a dredging work-team No. 3 of the Pothong River Management Agency of Pyongyang City. He has been working there for decades.

His house is on the bank of the Pothong River. That is why he loves the river more than anybody else.

It is not an easy job to dredge sludge from the river bed on a dredger, but he enjoys respect and love of the collective as he is faithful to his job.

One night he walked a long journey to get accessories necessary for a pump repair, lest the next day’s dredging should be disturbed.

In September 2023 Sonu was selected as a representative to the celebration events held on the 75^th founding anniversary of the DPRK. He appreciated a military parade, torch procession, and celebration performance and attended the national banquet.

After the events Sonu had an honour of having a photo taken with the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The photo adds brilliance to his efforts to make the river a beautiful paradise for the people. The photo was a supreme award given by the Workers’ Party of Korea to merits and feats performed by the workers in the 75-year history of the state development.
