It will not be so strange for the readers who have already enjoyed its true taste during the visit to the DPRK.

But few of them know how Pyongyang cold noodle has become famous.

One day in 1966, Chairman Kim Jong Il summoned the officials of the Okryu Restaurant.

After acquainting himself with quality of the noodle, Kim Jong Il taught them one by one the matters arising in improving the taste of its broth. He said that the Okryu Restaurant should make the noodle better so that it could be well known to the world.

Later on, Kim Jong Il paid attention and gave meticulous guidance to the development of Pyongyang cold noodle so that it could enjoy invariable good reputations.

Pyongyang cold noodle has become a proud national dish thanks to Kim Jong Il’s noble patriotic intention to preserve the tradition peculiar to the national food and demonstrate excellence of the nation all over the world.
