Chairman Kim Jong Il met senior officials of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea on April 9, 2008 and recollected glorious but difficult days in the past for strengthening and developing the revolutionary armed forces and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.
In the period when the country faced severe trials, Kim Jong Il further strengthened and developed the Korean People’s Army into invincible elite revolutionary armed forces and paid primary attention to the development of the defence industry to lay solid material and technical foundation for it, thus raising the overall national strength onto a new phase by relying on the powerful military capabilities.
Looking at the officials who were in deep emotion, Kim Jong Il said that such successes were unthinkable apart from exploits which President Kim Il Sung performed in building the revolutionary armed forces and developing national defence industry. He also said that the invincible revolutionary armed forces and the powerful defence industry were the most valuable legacies bequeathed by the President to him and they served as precious assets in building powerful revolutionary armed forces and realizing the Songun politics.
