Institutes of agricultural science in South and North Hwanghae Provinces, North Phyongan Province, Kangwon Province and other provinces make efforts to support growth of agricultural production on the strength of science and technology.

They pay primary attention to the establishment of scientific methods of manuring and cultivating wheat and barley in keeping with their growth and, at the same time, make efforts to discover resources of raw materials necessary for compost production and study rational production methods in relevant areas.

They also produce and introduce quantities of seed covering materials capable of minimizing draught and cold-weather damages and providing conditions favourable for growth of maize. They make progress in breeding not only strains of paddy rice capable of hastening period of growth and guaranteeing high yields but the high-yielding and quality strains of wheat.

Many farms give emphasis to the introduction of triple cropping based on intercropping and constantly improve dissemination of science and technology so that they can rapidly inform those in charge of fields of advanced farming techniques and methods.
