Nepal- Korea Friendship Association presented a gold- and silver-plated craftwork “Temple of Juche” to leader Kim Jong Il on February 16, 1983 on the occasion of the his birthday.
As one of the biggest social organizations in Nepal, the Nepal-Korea Friendship Association formed in September 1957 paid visits to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on several occasions to witness the realities in the DPRK where the great changes had been brought about under the wise leadership of leader Kim Jong Il. In this course, the members of the association came to feel the reverence for leader Kim Jong Il more deeply. They decided to prepare the craftwork to present to leader Kim Jong Il in accordance with their national custom of presenting craftworks, drawings and photos depicting the temple, a symbol of Nepal, to the great persons in testimony of congratulatory. Discussing the design all night long, they depicted the open main gate of the temple, that had been depicted to be the closed one true to the Buddhist doctrine, in reflection of their will that they must build an independent new society in the contemporary world under the leadership of the leader Kim Jong Il.
The craftwork incorporates the desire of the members of the association for the good health of leader Kim Jong Il for the sake of the Korean and the world revolution and friendship and solidarity between the DPRK and Nepal, and their resolution to hold aloft the banner of Juche under his leadership.
