One day after the historic Law on Sex Equality was proclaimed, President Kim Il Sung was told by women officials that all women throughout the country expressed their gratitude to Kim Il Sung for providing them with a new life full of hope and were firmly determined to devote their efforts to the building of a new Korea.
Kim Il Sung said that, thanks to the Law on Sex Equality, the DPRK women’s genuine democratic rights and freedom were secured so that they could create a new life and it was a great event in the development of the country’s history.
Kim Il Sung earnestly told the officials that they should realize the rights in practical life instead of shouting hurrah for it.
Kim Il Sung said that all women should free themselves from the outdated ideas and conventions and take an active part in the worthwhile struggle to build a new Korea like the women guerrillas of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army who had fought with rifles in their hands for liberation of the country and social emancipation of women in the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.
