    At midnight on May 21, 1989, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that he wanted to see Mangyongdae SchoolChildren’s Palace in a night view and went there.

    When his car arrived in front of the palace, the Chairman let down a window of the car. Looking at the palace for a while, the Chairman told an official sitting beside him that the children’s palace is the best one in the world with good appearance; largest in size and best in seed.

    The Chairman explained that when the designers planned a miniature of Mangyongdae SchoolChildren’s Palace, they named the plan “Embrace” as intended by him meaning that the palace is the embrace of President Kim Il Sung who holds children in his bosom. That Mangyongdae SchoolChildren’s Palace is the embrace of the President who takes care of all children is the seed, he said. The Chairman said such a building with soft curved lines that seems as if it embraced all children could be born thanks to the good seed.

    Listening to the Chairman, the official looked at the meaningful palace again and again.
