One September day in 1947 President Kim Il Sung dropped in at a farmhouse in a mountain village.

Kim Il Sung sat face to face with an aged man of the house and asked him how much land he received, what the main crop was in his village and what kind of wild vegetables and fruits there were around the village.

Listening to him, Kim Il Sung said that it was necessary to make good use of the mountains in the mountainous areas and make good use of the sea in the coastal areas. Kim Il Sung taught him in detail the ways to improve the people’s livelihood in the mountain village.

The aged man took out a pocket-book and wrote something on it with a pencil butt. The aged man said that he wrote about Kim Il Sung’s visit to his house to hand it down to his posterities.

Kim Il Sung held his hands and requested him that he had rather write Pick gold out of all the mountains to hand the words down to his posterities.
