Building Erected First on Ruins of War

A construction group was assigned the task of rehabilitating and reconstructing Pyongyang on ruins after the Fatherland Liberation War. The group was making preparations for the task. But an unexpected order was issued. It was to stop the task and instead to put all efforts to the building of a school.

Soon after the order, the group received a blueprint of a four-storied modern school sent by President Kim Il Sung. A crane was also sent to builders of the school.

Officials of the group and the builders were moved to tears by love for the rising generation showed by Kim Il Sung, who not only saw that a school was built before others after the war but preferentially sent a precious tower crane, one of a few in the country at that time, for the building of the school.

It was the then Pyongyang Junior Middle School No. 2.
