    2014 recorded in the history of the country as a proud year of creation and change

    

    2014 was a proud year in which the service personnel and builders who engaged in the building of a thriving country upholding the programmatic task set forth by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in the New Year address for 2014 opened up a new heyday in construction by creating the world-startled miracles and innovations in every part of the country in the fierce flames for creating the Korean speed.

    In 2014 the DPRK’s art of architecture developed on to a new high phase and many monumental structures that serve as standards and models of Juche-oriented architecture were built in Pyongyang, the capital city and other places of the country.

    

    The Wisong Scientists Dwelling District, Cradle Dear to Scientists

    

    The Wisong Scientists Dwelling District, located in the Unjong District, the suburb of Pyongyang City, is as large as one street equipped with every circumstance and condition necessary for life.

    The Wisong Scientists Dwelling District which was completed on the highest level by the personal initiative and energetic guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un consists of 24 buildings of multi-storey dwelling houses, schools, hospital, nursery, kindergarten, solar-heated green house, various kinds of welfare facilities and public buildings, and parks.

    The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un highly praised, saying that it is another ideal dwelling district in which the Party’s requirement of maintaining the convenience- and aesthetics-first principle is applied thoroughly.

    The Wisong Scientists Dwelling District was inaugurated on October 17, 2014, that is, 7 months after the beginning of its construction.

     Apartment houses for lecturers at Kim Chaek University of Technology--sailboats on the Taedong River

     It was built in a peculiar form of gorgeous sailboats on the picturesque Taedong River in celebration of the 69^th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea. It is another proud creation which the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un provided to the lecturers at Kim Chaek University of Technology.

    Viewing these buildings, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un highly appreciated that they look like gorgeous sailboats on the Taedong River and they are peculiar and good-looking buildings which reflect the Party’s intention to innovate ceaselessly the formative and artistic character of architecture.

    They were inaugurated on October 18, 2014. They consist of twin 46-storey buildings.

    The Mirae Scientists Street is under construction with them as an axis as said by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

    

    The Yonphung Scientists Holiday Camp looking like a scroll of picture the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un initiated its construction, selected the place for it and named it. It was completed in a short period of more than 4 months.

    The Yonphung Scienists Holiday Camp is composed of general service complex, buildings for holiday makers, resting place, strolling path and a multi-purpose playground.

    Looking round the completed Yonphung Scientists Holiday Camp, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was very much satisfied saying that it looks like a scroll of picture, that a wonderful and surprising fairyland he had pictured was translated into reality, that it is a magnificent scene in a thick forest and that the area has been changed much in a short period.

    The Yonphung Scientists Holiday Camp is unique—building of its interior and exterior is non-repetitive and corridors link the buildings for holiday makers integrating the Holiday Camp into one.

    It is a green architecture where the cooling and heating system by geo-therm is introduced and which is harmony with the surrounding environment.

    

    Workers’ Hostel at Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill—Palace for Workers

    Upholding the behest of Chairman Kim Jong Il, respected Kim Jong Un chose the site for the hostel and gave meticulous guidance to its construction. It was wonderfully built in a short period of over 180 days even in unfavourable conditions of winter by the People’s Army soldiers, a pioneer and example in the struggle to implement the Party’s ideas and safeguard its policies.

    The workers’ hostel built in compliance with the features of a civilized socialist nation is composed of bedrooms, a dining hall, bathroom, beauty salon, shop, medical treatment room, library and other welfare and service facilities.

    A banquet for the workers in celebration of the May Day was arranged on a grand scale thanks to Kim Jong Un’s love and solicitude on May 1, 2014 which was on the threshold of its inauguration.

    

    Pyongyang Baby Home and Orphanage—Children’s Cradle of Happiness

    

    The Pyongyang Baby Home and Orphanage was built as the unique cradle of the children, best of the world thanks to the noble love for younger generations shown by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

    Upholding the sayings made by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in February 2014 when he visited the former Pyongyang Baby Home and Orphanage, the soldier builders built new ones on the bank of the picturesque Taedong River as intended by the Party.

    The Pyongyang Baby Home and Orphanage includes over 250 rooms such as those for childcare and education, playing halls, intellectual amusement room and sick ward. It has also fittings and furniture needed for the children’s life, open-air and indoor wading pools, parks, and various kinds of game and amusement facilities and equipment.

    

    The inaugural ceremony of the Pyongyang Baby Home and Orphanage was held on October 27, 2014.

    

    Songdowon International Schoolchildren’s Camp—Kingdom of Schoolchildren

    

    It had been built in 1960. President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il visited it on several occasions. It was the biggest camp in our country with a thousand several hundreds of beds.

    The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un told to renovate the camp in May 2013 when he visited it. True to him, the soldier builders completed its renovation in a short period of more than 5 months.

    The camp is composed of buildings for campers, a hall, mountaineering knowledge dissemination room, electronic games room, library, international friendship hall, Children’s Union room, rooms for fine arts and skill demonstration, 4D simulation cinema, aquarium, aviary, stuffed animals exhibition room, outdoor playground, the gym, indoor and open-air wading pools, outdoor archery field, etc.

    

    The inaugural ceremony was held on a grand scale on May 2, 2014 in the presence of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

    

    May Day Stadium—Magnolia Blossomed in the middle of Taedong River

    

     Representative of the DPRK’s stadium, it is one of the big stadiums in the world. The 13^th World Festival of Youth and Students, extravaganza “Arirang” and other colourful international and national events were held in this May Day Stadium.

    Upholding Kim Jong Un’s plan of building of a sports power, the People’s Army soldiers and builders finished wonderfully its modernization, as huge as several projects, in a short period of 10 months.

    

    It was inaugurated on October 28, 2014. The May Day Stadium has a football ground with 150 000 seats, running track, warming-up rooms, players’ bed rooms, rooms for coaches and referees and doping test which accord with the international standards and also equipped on the high level with such sports, cultural welfare and service facilities as swimming pool, table tennis room, mini golf lane and physical training centre.

    

    Sports Village on Chongchun Street—Comprehensive Sports and Cultural Base

    The sports village on Chongchun Street has been renovated in March 2014 as a comprehensive sports and cultural base in conformity with the requirement of the present era aspiring for a sports power.

    With a plan to refresh the sports village on Chongchun Street as demanded by a new century, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gave on-the-spot guidance to several gymnasiums in March 2013 and clarified detailed tasks and way for their renovation.

    With enthusiasm to translate the Party’s far-sighted plan into reality, the service personnel and builders perfectly underwent plastering hundreds of thousands of square metres of their interior and exterior, tiling on interior of the gymnasiums and paving roads in a short period.

    

    Composed of several gymnasiums for volleyball, table tennis, weightlifting and swimming, football stadium, sportspersons’ restaurant, etc., the sports village on Chongchun Street is furnished with modern equipment and facilities providing with every wonderful service to the sportspersons.
