In its article entitled “Socialist Korea and Democracy”, the Egyptian newspaper Al Masaiya dated March 12, 2009 noted that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea assumes popular and democratic character and it is a country that attaches importance to and gives prominence to democracy. It continued as follows.

The DPRK has enforced democracy in its own way in keeping with the concrete conditions of the country since long ago. Democracy in the DPRK has developed into socialist democracy in which all the working people help and lead one another forward as equal members of society and with equal freedom and rights. In socialist Korea policies are formulated by reflecting the people’s opinions and they are carried out in line with the people’s interests.

It is the constant view of the Republic that the people’s will and demand, when integrated into a system, would be ideas, lines and policies.
