When meeting with President Kim Il Sung during his visit to the DPRK in April 1992, the head of a delegation of journalists of Washington Times from the United States asked the President what his hobby was and what the amusement and sports were, if any, that he enjoyed.

Wearing a smile on his face, the President replied that he had no particular hobby or amusement of his own. He said that he was fond of reading and he liked mixing with the people and sharing their company.

The head of delegations said… I have been told by many heads of state and major politicians that hunting, fishing, swimming or amusements were their interests. It is my first time to be informed of reading and mixing with the people and sharing their company. The interests of Your Excellency President are very simple and their meanings are profound like space. Indeed, the interests of Your Excellency President are the ones of the world great person in name and reality that no one in the world can have.
