     The respected Marshal Kim Jong Un leads the intellectuals at every step so that they make weighty contribution to the prosperity of country while regarding them as the precious treasure of the country.

    The Marshal is a benevolent teacher who illuminates the way ahead of the intellectuals in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

    In several meetings including the national conference of scientists and technicians held in November 2013, he instructed that the scientists and technicians should raise a fierce wind of breaking through the frontiers of science and technology while saying that the present times is that of science and technology, that of knowledge-based economy and the building of a prosperous country and its future is unthinkable apart from the science and technology.

    Regarding the science and technology as the outpost in defence of socialism, he provided field guidance to the different scientific research units, factories and enterprises including the State Academy of Sciences, the Turf Research Branch of State Academy of Sciences, the Central Mushroom Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences and etc. to clarify the tasks arising in developing the science and technology of the country.

    Regarding the education as an important work deciding the rise and fall and prosperity of the country, he gave a field guidance to the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School to kindle the flames of increasing the quality in education. In his letter sent to the participants to the 13^th National Conference of Educationists in September 2014, he set a goal to turn the DPRK into the socialist educational power in the 21^st century by intensifying the secondary general education and making all the people well versed in science and technology and clarified the tasks and ways to do so.

    And he personally guided the different art performances including the performances given by the Moranbong Band to instruct them to give full play to the revolutionary traits of creation and production. In his letter to the 9^th national conference of artistes held in May 2014, he made clear in detail the tasks and ways arising in creating the masterpieces which are influential and strong in appeal.

    Giving field guidance to the different hospitals including the Breast Tumour Research Institute of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and the Ryugyong Dental Hospital, he gave the doctors precious instructions for developing their high sense of responsibility and role for improving the medical treatment and preventive work.

    The respected Marshal Kim Jong Un is the great benefactor who set up the intellectuals as the heroes and the vanguards of the times.

    He highly appreciates an insignificant success made by the intellectuals.

    He highly appreciates even small success made by the intellectuals.

    He personally awarded watches bearing the august name of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il to the intellectuals who made great contribution to the prosperity and development of the country. When the scientist and technicians launched the first scientific and technical application satellite, he was gladder than the others at the news and summoned them to the building of the Central Committee where the flag of the Workers’ Party of Korea flies to have a photo taken with them and thus granting them great confidence and glory.

    He made sure that the atmosphere of giving preferential social treatment to the scientists, technicians, researchers and lecturers pervade the whole society. And he set up the intellectuals who made great success as the patriots and heroes who are well informed in the country.

    The Marshal is an intimate father of the intellectuals who warmly looks after their work and life.

    He provides the intellectuals with excellent working conditions so that they can work without any inconvenience.

    

    He saw to it that the Turf Research Branch of the State Academy of Sciences was built, following the construction of the dust- and virus-free Central Mushroom Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences. And he made sure that the modern experimental apparatus and facilities needed for the research work were fully equipped.

    The Marshal tenderly looks after the life of the intellectuals.

    Highly appreciating that the lecturers are the patriots who devote their whole life for bringing up the posterity and training them into the talented people of the country, he made sure that the apartment houses for the lecturers at Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology in which the catering facilities, small parks and distinctive indoor retiring places were arranged and the complete household goods were equipped were built so as to enable them to lead cultured and happy life to their heart contents while devoting themselves to their work.

    And he saw to it that the Unha Scientists Street and the Wisong Scientists Dwelling District composed of public buildings including the modern multi-storey dwelling houses, hospitals, schools and kindergartens, and the catering facilities of different purposes were built, saying that there was nothing to spare for the scientists who proved with their practice the validity of the Party’s policy of giving importance to the science and technology. He personally selected the site of the holiday camp for scientists on the shores of picturesque Lake Yonphung and made sure that the recreation centre was built on the highest level.

    

    He ensured that the fine Mirae Shop for the scientists was built on the bank of picturesque Pothong River to enable them to buy daily necessaries to their heart contents.

    

    The intellectuals who live in the ardent affection and trust of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un are making great successes in different fields including the science and technology, art and literature.
