One day, Kim Il Sung made a phone call to an officer in command of an unit fighting on Height 1 211 to acquaint himself with the health of the soldiers. Kim Il Sung said that all the soldiers were precious treasures and revolutionary comrade-in-arms that could not be bartered for anything, adding that the fiercer the battles may be, the deeper attention should be paid to the soldiers’ life. Kim Il Sung continued that hot rice and soup should be served and warm beds provided as it was getting cool.
Later, Kim Il Sung sent soybeans to the unit so that they could grow bean sprouts and make bean curd. Kim Il Sung also sent mackerel, explaining in detail how to store and cook it.
Thanks to Kim Il Sung’s great and warm affection, the defenders of the Height 1 211 could fight heroically in the fierce war while singing and dancing with confidence in sure victory.
