One day in January 1990, Chairman Kim Jong Il told senior officials that the popular masses were the very motive force of the revolution and construction, that they had inexhaustible strength and intelligence, that the Workers’ Party of Korea served the people and that all its lines and policies were for the people. He continued that the Party officials should always make it a rule to mix with the masses and learn from them and share sweets and bitters with them, regarding as the greatest honour and pride to serve the people.
Kim Jong Il told them that only those working faithfully for the people and enjoying the people’s support and love could be called the true Juche-type Party officials.
Kim Jong Il stressed that the People’s Army held a slogan “We serve the country!”, but the Party officials’ slogan should be “We serve the people!”
The slogan “We serve the people!” is associated with noble intention of Kim Jong Il who wanted the Party officials to become the true sons and faithful servants of the people.
