One day in April 1998, Chairman Kim Jong Il received senior officials of Chongryon (Korean Association of Korean Residents in Japan) who were visiting the DPRK.

They made preparations for departure, keeping in their mind the great love of the Chairman who would receive them though he was busy with the state affairs.

Inquiring about their departure situation by telephone, the Chairman said in anxiety that it was not safe to travel by air as the weather was cloudy. He told to bring them by train or by land.

The Chairman who immediately made a call again said that he would send a special train and gave detailed information about departure time, stopovers and arrival time of the train.

The story about benevolent measure taken by the Chairman who did not think of his tiredness caused by forced march day and night but worried about Chongryon officials and sent a special train for them, is conveyed forever as a legend of his noble love for compatriots in the history of the movement of Koreans in Japan.
