The Far East Force commander of the USSR visited the DPRK in August 1985.
The commander had the honor of having a talk with Chairman Kim Jong Il. The commander was so attracted by Kim Jong Il’s profound analysis of political, economic and military affairs, scientific insight into the developing situation, strong and daring gut and disposition and personality befitting a general that he stood up, tidying up his uniform, and made a military salute to Kim Jong Il. He said with respect.
“Respected Comrade Kim Jong Il, from now on, I will be an aide-de-camp of you, General Kim Jong Il. I will regard it as my biggest glory to become your aide-de-camp.”
Then the commander stepped back, went to and took the aide-de-camp’s seat.
Kim Jong Il told him to sit on the chair which he had seated, but the commander refused to do so, saying “From now on, I’m your aide-de-camp.”
