Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited in November 2013 the tomb of the fallen soldiers of subchaser No. 233 who died heroically in action.
The Supreme Leader didn’t forget the fallen soldiers and visited the unit they had served. He presented a flower before the tomb to pay tribute and looked round every tombstone. He said with emotion… Pictures of the fallen soldiers are well made. All soldiers are young, manly and handsome. They seem to wake up and greet me right now. One must be ready for self-sacrifice to safeguard the country. However, the soldiers passed away so early for their young ages. So I can hardly sleep with the thinking of them.
The Supreme Leader could not stand uncontrollable grief and stopped walking. He said in a moving tone… I feel shocked when I figured not only the fallen soldiers who rendered services with ambition and with dream and hope to perform feats but their parents who will shed tears at the fallen sons who left home with resolution to become a hero and their wives who will wait for their husbands. They will be more heart-broken than me.
Looking around the fallen soldiers’ tomb for a long time, he said… There should be a name of its owner on the tombstone. My name must be inscribed there. Only then can I feel easy even a bit.
When he was informed that the soldiers were fallen in action, the Supreme Leader was so heart-rending that he said… The soldiers must be found out how deep the sea may be. We cannot hold a funeral ceremony for them until all of the dead bodies are found. He stayed up all night for several days to design the tomb and tombstones.
He also sent their stone photos for the tombstones.
Later the Supreme Leader saw that all the soldiers were awarded such official commendations of high class as Kim Jong Il Youth Honour Prize and the honourable title of being patriotic martyrs and that they became members of the WPK. He also framed colour photos of the fallen soldiers and wrapped the photos in red cloth on which the Party emblem was embroidered to send them to the bereaved families.
One should be ready for sacrifice to defend the country and nothing is more valuable and honorable than the life of a soldier who sacrifices himself for the country. But the Supreme Leader, who does not consider their military profession but regards them as his revolutionary comrades-in-arms who share the purpose and sentiment and as his own flesh and blood, showed parental affection to every fallen soldier.
