In February 1996, the Chairman visited a post on a height in the forefront near the enemy’s post.
It was so cold and windy when he reached the top of the height.
But the Chairman clarified to the commanding officers about the specific plans to complete the tactics for operations against the enemy’s aggressive maneuvers for a long time.
And he met the soldiers on duty.
Sharing the fatherly talks with them, he turned his attention to their cotton-padded uniform.
The Chairman who estimated the thickness of their clothes feeling the breast parts of the 2 soldiers’ uniforms wore a worried look.
The Chairman said to the officials that the uniforms not quilted would be better than those quilted, requesting to let the soldiers not feel cold even though more materials are needed. Then he returned very late at night.
The Chairman kept repeating that he was worried with the soldiers as he failed to send them thick uniforms earlier, so he couldn’t sleep when he thinks of the soldiers on duty on cold days.
After a moment he called the commanding officers and the officials concerned and asked them to put more wadding in the military uniform and supply them with unquilted ones rather than the quilted ones so that the wind cannot go through the needled points, stressing that the soldiers are the precious beings not changeable with anything; we should always look after them warm-heartedly, lest them should feel even a bit discomfort; and in order to do so, every official and commanding officer should have warm affection as their parents do.
The light in his office was not off until the morning.
The workers of the clothing factory worked day and night in tears.
They devoted their true hearts in producing cotton-padded uniforms, being touched by the Chairman’s affection.
Knowing this fact, the Chairman said that how warmly our people love the army and that they understand his mind as they are the real parents of the soldiers, feeling very satisfied.
