One October day in 1970 President
The President said that at first he believed that Marxism indicated the way for building an earthly paradise where all the people are well off free from exploitation and oppression and came to follow it. He continued that even though he embarked on the revolution with the confidence in Marxism, he gradually came to know that there were many problems that could not be solved by the Marxist proposition only. Accordingly, he came to conclude that he should develop the Marxist proposition creatively in accordance with the specific realities of the Korean revolution and he had confidence that revolution could be pushed forward with success in any difficult condition only when one believed in the strength of the people and correctly brought them into action, not by harbouring expectations of others’ aid, he stressed. He instructed that, at last, he came to conclusion that one is master of his own destiny and capable of shaping his own destiny.
