In November 1948 Kim Il Sung visited the unit to present the colours to the first tank unit, which was born 3 months after the country was liberated.

Kim Il Sung said that having awakened tank drivers in a revolutionary way and arming them with revolutionary ideas was the secret. Listening to him, the marshal expressed admiration by saying that the Juche idea is a key to everything including the state and the army building.
