In summer of 1969 when he was told that 19 students, who were living in a worker district of northern part of the DPRK, crossed over a pass to go to a middle school in the riseat, President Kim Il Sung saw that a student commuter train was manufactured and sent for the students.
The President underlined several times that it was necessary to take a safe measure lest accidents should happen as the train would use a forest railway and saw that a management and operation organ was established for its safe running.
One morning several days later a student commuter train arrived in the village blowing the whistle.
9 years passed since then and it was in April 1978. Chairman Kim Jong Il saw that 2 locomotives and 6 passenger trains were sent additionally to them in consideration of the increased number of the students.
