    Defense of national sovereignty.

    

    The Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) was the most severe trial for the liberated Korean people.

    In the Fatherland Liberation War (FLW) decisive to the destiny of the country and the nation, the invincible vitality and might of the Songun revolutionary leadership of President Kim Il Sung who gave priority to arms was fully displayed through the practice. He led the FLW against the US to victory in the 1950’s, thus fully displaying the heroic mettle of the Korean people to the world and rendering immortal revolutionary exploits to the history. The war was started only after 5 years since the end of the sanguinary war against the Japanese imperialists.

    President Kim Il Sung made a historic radio speech “Every effort for victory in the war” on June 26^th 1950, the next day of the war started. He presented a revolutionary line to mobilize all human and material resources for the victory in the war and organized and led the struggle to reorganize all work of the Party and the state on a war footing. On the first day of the war, he presented an idea to counter with just liberation war against the barbarous aggressive war of the enemies and organized and mobilized entire army and people for the victory of the FLW.

    Under the direct guidance of the President, the military commission was organized as the supreme leading organ of the state exercising unified control over all the powers of the country in the wartime condition. And the supreme headquarters of the Korean People’s Army was organized as the supreme military commanding organ. Thus the powerful commanding system was established. It could realize the monolithic system of leadership of the President over the whole Party, the whole army and the whole people.

    President Kim Il Sung exerted every efforts during the FLW to developing the People’s Army, the leading force of the victory in the war.

    He always exerted every effort to political and ideological strengthening of the People’s Army. He was on a constant tour of inspection at the front and gave courage and invigorated the soldiers. And he presented revolutionary line in every strategic stage of the KLW with the outstanding military strategy and tactics and perfected the battle methods of the People’s Army one by one.

    Due to the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung, ever-victorious Songun leader and outstanding military strategist, the Korean people could smash the US imperialists and defended firmly the national sovereignty.
