    It was on October 21, 1982 that is 2 years after the opening of Pyongyang Maternity Hospital.

    Having a talk with officials that day, leader Kim Jong Il unexpectedly asked one of the officials whether the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital gives honey to women after delivery.

    The official told him proudly that the hospital has supplied honey to the parturient women since its opening and it receives small money fixed by the state.

    Being told, the leader strictly said that it is wrong that the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital receives the price for honey from the parturient women.

    He said that from olden times women in our country had have honey after giving birth to children, and, because honey is very good for quick recovery of women’s health, our Party built Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and provided it with honey for them. He said that it is wrong to receive its price from the women and the hospital should give honey to them free of charge in the future telling that it is the Party’s solicitude. He continued to say that President Kim Il Sung was pleased at the fact that the Party provides the women of Pyongyang Maternity Hospital with honey. He stressed that our Party spares nothing for the future of the revolution.

    His saying implies noble outlook on the younger generation of the leader who spares nothing for the future of the country.

    From then on, Pyongyang Maternity Hospital has been providing the women with varieties of rare honey free of charge.
