In July 2024 a consultative meeting, which the DPRK people affectionately call the “meeting in a tent”, was held in the Wonsan Kalma area which was changing into a beautiful cultural tourist area for the people.

At the consultative meeting, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un taught in detail the issues arising in building the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area to be impeccable as a grand monumental edifice for the good of the people.

When he visited the area in December 2024, he stressed that it was necessary to properly push ahead the undertakings to lay solid material foundations for the regional economic development and the improvement of the people’s livelihood and fundamentally refurbish the appearance of the country.

Thanks to his high ideal and great will, it could be built into a leading national coastal tourist city which has sea-bathing service facilities and various sports, amusement, commercial and public catering facilities fully equipped with all the necessary conditions, as well as facilities for other cultural and leisure activities, which can offer all year round the real taste of the east coast.

Going round the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area in June 2025 when its inauguration was declared, Kim Jong Un said that what he most wanted to do for the people and the cherished desire to which the Party devoted a great deal of effort for a long time were translated into a brilliant reality, and that the DPRK people’s inexhaustible pioneering spirit was fully demonstrated once again through the gigantic construction project.
