    The joint editorial of this year 2012 set it as an important way for unfolding a new era of prosperity true to the behests of leader Kim Jong Il to strengthen the Party and enhance its leadership role to the maximum.

    The Workers’ Party of Korea founded by President Kim Il Sung and led by leader Kim Jong Il has recorded the history with victory and glory in each chronicle of the Korean revolution. Thanks to the wise guidance of leader Kim Jong Il, the WPK has strengthened and developed into the Party of Comrade Kim Il Sung, the most seasoned and experienced Party with invincible might.

    At present the WPK is in such an important, responsible period that it should consummate the revolutionary cause of Juche started in Mt. Paektu.

    It was the greatest loss in the WPK’s history and the biggest sorrows to the Korean people that leader Kim Jong Il passed away all of a sudden last year. Though he passed away, the DPRK has the invincible Party, the state, the army. It has also respected Kim Jong Un, the successor to the revolutionary cause of Juche and the excellent people who support the Party’s leadership with loyalty.

    The DPRK’s present reality demands to make the Party building and activities run through the spirit of conducting the revolution by closely rallying behind Kim Jong Un.

    The joint editorial stressed the important problems in filling the demand.

    First of all, it stressed to thoroughly establish the monolithic leadership system of the Party.

    It noted that the WPK should strengthen and develop the whole Party into an organizational and ideological integrated whole, which runs through the unanimous will to be true to the intention of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

    The joint editorial also stated that the Party organizations should fully get acquainted with the public sentiments and effect a fresh turn in the work with the masses as required by the Party’s mass line.

    The WPK is the mass-based Party with its roots struck among the masses and the motherly party which defends and takes care of the people’s happy life with love and trust. It is the requirement of the mass line that has been consistently maintained by the WPK since its foundation to regard the people as masters of the revolution, serve the people and make revolution by relying on their inexhaustible strength.

    The joint editorial stressed that the Party organizations should respect the opinions of the masses and intensify the Party work in conformity with them. Greatness and vitality of the WPK’s benevolent politics and all-embracing politics should be demonstrated to the full this year that marks the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung through the dynamic efforts to implement the mass line.

    The joint editorial also stated to make the Party organizations into the most powerful ones.

    Today most powerful is the Party organization which translates into reality the lifetime wish of leader Kim Jong Il under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

    It is the programmatic behests of leader Kim Jong Il to make great innovations and great leap forward in all fronts of the revolution and construction under the flame of Hamnam, the banner of the industrial revolution in the new century. The joint editorial demands that the Party organizations at all levels should concentrate their efforts on the struggle to make the flames of Hamnam flare up fiercely and push ahead with the industrial revolution in the new century.

    The joint editorial noted that they should launch in a fresh and ambitious way the propaganda and agitation work to inspire the people to live and work in the spirit of forced march displayed by leader Kim Jong Il.

    Thanks to the correct leadership of the WPK, the DPRK will surely open the gate to a prosperous and powerful country this year and enter the stage of building a prosperous and powerful socialist country comprehensively.
