Can Individuals and Small Collectives Become the Subject of History

Whether individuals and small collectives can also become the subject of history is dependent upon whether they share the same destiny with the popular masses or not.

The word popular masses is not an abstract concept. The popular masses are formed on the basis of individuals and small collectives. In the world there is not a collective, the popular masses, that exists in an abstract way apart from individuals and small collectives.

This means that the role of the popular masses and the socio-historical movement are inconceivable without the role of individuals and small collectives.

However, this does not mean that all individuals and small collectives can become the subject of history.

In history or in reality, we can possibly find the cases that individuals and small collectives play the positive role in shaping the destiny of the popular masses and in developing history and society. The individuals and small collectives that play the positive role in shaping the destiny of the popular masses and developing history and society are those that share the independent will and desire of the popular masses, thus being a component of the popular masses. Such individuals and small collectives can able to share sweets and bitters forever with the popular masses and occupy the position of the subject of history as a full-fledged member of the popular masses and play the role as such.

On the other hand, the individuals and small collectives that do not share the desire and interests with the popular masses or those that give importance only to the satisfaction of individualistic greed can never share the same fate with the popular masses, and accordingly, they cannot become the subject of history in any case.

Whether individuals and small collectives can become the subject of history or not sharing the same fate with the popular masses is not immutable socio-historically, but changes constantly. Therefore, activities of individuals and small collectives should be approached scientifically in their close coherence while taking into consideration of both independent will and desire of the popular masses and historical reality.
