    On October 26, 1973, Chairman Kim Jong Il saw a football game held in the (then) Moranbong Stadium. After the game, the Chairman told officials in the sector of sport that research should be strengthened in science of sport.

    The Chairman said that science of sport is the one that gives fullest play to man’s physical functions and potentialities at game and that, in other words, the DPRK-style science of sport is a man-centered science that comprehensively guarantees development of man’s physique.

    Man-centered science of sport, this is a classic formulation that newly and clearly explained intrinsic requirements of science of sport, proceeding from boundless human love.

    The Chairman said that man should not be a mean of game but sport should serve man as sport is for man and game is form of sports activities for man’s physical development. The Chairman said that the DPRK’s science of sport should be a science that serves man from A to Z, the science that makes contribution to man’s comprehensive physical development.

    The officials were moved by saying of the Chairman who put an end to the sport which had been regarded as bargain and considered the DPRK’s sport as the Juche-oriented one that trains the popular masses to be the most independent and creative powerful beings.
